1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to the Common Scholarship Application (“CSA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by EDU, Inc.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of:
- Common Scholarship Application platform
- All related services, features, and communications
By accessing or using CSA, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use CSA independently.
If you are under 18:
- You may use CSA only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian
- The parent/guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf
You agree that:
- All information you provide is accurate
- You are legally authorized to use the platform
3. Nature of the Platform (IMPORTANT)
CSA is a technology platform that connects students with scholarship opportunities.
CSA:
- Does NOT award scholarships
- Does NOT guarantee selection or funding
- Does NOT control scholarship provider decisions
All scholarship decisions are made solely by independent scholarship providers.
4. User Accounts
To use CSA, you must create an account.
You agree to:
- Maintain accurate and complete information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Notify us of unauthorized access
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
We reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate accounts
- Refuse service for violations
5. Scholarship Applications
By submitting an application:
- You authorize CSA to share your information with the selected scholarship provider
- You understand that providers independently review applications
You agree NOT to:
- Submit false or misleading information
- Submit duplicate or fraudulent applications
- Attempt to manipulate outcomes
Violation may result in:
- Disqualification
- Account termination
6. Fees & Payments
Certain features or applications may require payment.
By submitting payment:
- You agree to the stated fee
- All payments are non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise
- Payment does NOT guarantee selection or award
CSA is not responsible for:
- Scholarship decisions
- Provider actions after submission
7. User Content & Submissions
You retain ownership of your content (e.g., essays, responses).
However, by submitting content, you grant CSA:
- A non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license
- To use, store, process, and transmit your content
- For the purpose of operating the platform
You are responsible for ensuring your content:
- Is accurate
- Does not violate laws or third-party rights
8. Scholarship Provider Responsibility
Scholarship providers:
- Are independent third parties
- Are solely responsible for:
- Selection decisions
- Award distribution
- Communication with applicants
CSA is NOT responsible for:
- Provider conduct
- Failure to award funds
- Changes in scholarship terms
9. Communications & Consent
By using CSA, you consent to receive:
- Application updates
- Deadline reminders
- Scholarship opportunities
You may opt out of non-essential communications.
CSA complies with the CAN-SPAM Act.
10. Text Messaging (SMS)
If you provide your phone number, you consent to receive:
- Scholarship alerts
- Application updates
Message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the platform for unlawful purposes
- Engage in fraud or misrepresentation
- Attempt to access other users’ data
- Use bots, scraping tools, or automation
- Interfere with platform functionality
Violations may result in:
- Immediate termination
- Legal action
12. Intellectual Property
All platform content, including:
- Design
- Software
- Branding
is owned by EDU, Inc.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute platform materials
- Use CSA branding without permission
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS.”
CSA makes no guarantees regarding:
- Scholarship availability
- Selection outcomes
- Platform reliability
You use CSA at your own risk.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
CSA is NOT liable for:
- Scholarship decisions
- Provider actions
- Loss of opportunities
- Data misuse by third parties
Maximum liability is limited to:
the amount you paid to use the platform (if any)
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold CSA harmless from:
- Claims arising from your misuse of the platform
- False information submitted
- Violations of law or third-party rights
16. Dispute Resolution (Arbitration)
Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved through:
- Binding arbitration, not court
- No class action lawsuits
Arbitration will take place in Fulton County, Georgia.
17. Termination
CSA may suspend or terminate your account:
- For violations of these Terms
- For security or legal concerns
Upon termination:
- Your access ends immediately
- Certain obligations survive termination
18. Data & Privacy
Your use of CSA is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
19. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time.
Changes become effective upon posting.
Continued use constitutes acceptance.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
All legal matters shall be handled in Fulton County, Georgia.
